Description Of Services
- Survey Office Setup and Preparation
A dedicated survey office was set up to ensure the smooth execution of the project. This included preparing the workspace with required tools, communication systems, and software for conducting phone-based surveys. - Design the Kobo Toolbox Questionnaire and Perform Beta Testing
A questionnaire tailored to the stated preference (SP) survey was designed using Kobo Toolbox. The questionnaire was translated into Bangla for better respondent understanding and tested for accuracy, logic, and usability before deployment. - Develop the Phone Survey Plan
A detailed phone survey plan was developed to outline the approach for contacting respondents, managing schedules, and ensuring data collection goals were met efficiently. The plan accounted for the availability of respondents and ethical survey practices. - Hire the Required Number of Personnel
Skilled phone survey operators were recruited and trained to conduct the interviews. The team was selected based on their proficiency in communication, understanding of SP methods, and ability to follow the survey protocol. - Conduct Training and Piloting of the Survey
Comprehensive training sessions were provided to the survey team, focusing on the questionnaire, ethical guidelines, and troubleshooting. A pilot survey was conducted to ensure readiness and identify any potential improvements. - Organize All the Logistics for the Survey
Logistics were arranged to facilitate the phone surveys. Mobile phones or tablets were provided for data collection, along with SIM cards with sufficient balance for calling and internet connectivity, ensuring seamless operations throughout the survey period. - Coordinate with Stakeholders and Respondents
Efforts were made to ensure smooth communication with stakeholders and respondents. The survey team worked with the available URSTP respondent database to pre-identify individuals who had taken rickshaw trips, optimizing outreach efforts. - Conduct the Phone-Based SP Survey
The SP survey was conducted over the phone with 400 respondents from Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, and Narsingdi. Using URSTP data, respondents were asked about their willingness to switch to improved bus services based on cost, time, and other factors, providing valuable insights for future transport planning.
