Description of Services Provided:

This study aimed to assess how transport behavior among Dhaka city dwellers changed before and after the traffic control instability in August 2024. The focus was on understanding modal shifts, travel time variations, route changes, commuter stress, and adaptive strategies among different socioeconomic groups.

Key activities undertaken included:

• Survey design and development, targeting a diverse cross-section of city dwellers including private vehicle users, public transport passengers, pedestrians, and ride-sharing users.

• Developed a digital data collection system using KoBo Toolbox to efficiently capture structured responses from a wide geographic and demographic spread.

• Enumerator recruitment and training, ensuring high-quality data collection and respondent engagement.

• Implemented face-to-face surveys across strategic points within Dhaka city, covering residential, commercial, and transit zones.

• Captured data on:

  • Pre-August 2024 transport habits

  • Post-August 2024 changes in travel patterns

  • Perceived safety, convenience, cost, and time implications

• Data cleaning, statistical analysis, and comparative interpretation of behavioral patterns, segmented by gender, income group, travel purpose, and area.

• Reporting findings, including visual infographics, trend charts, and policy-oriented recommendations.

• This was one of the first systematic studies to quantify the behavioral impact of the August 2024 traffic management crisis in Dhaka.

• The findings offer valuable inputs for urban mobility planning, emergency response measures, and citizen-centered transport reforms.
